| Too many Squirrels die unnecessarily on the roads. And the tragedy is that most of these deaths could have been avoided had motorists taken some very simple precautions. |
|
If you see a squirrel attempting to cross the road, STOP. It's that simple. Squirrels will often change their mind and double back from whence they came, so make sure the squirrel has cleared the roadway before continuing. It is not well known that motorists must give way to all squirrel pedestrian traffic. This has long been a part of traffic law in the state of Michigan, but is rarely enforced. Failing to give way may result in heavy fines, and possible jail time for offenders. Local police forces are being educated and will be enforcing this law in future. |
Stan on Hunting Stan has a message for those of you who think it's fun or sporting to shoot squirrels, or to run them down deliberately. Stan says, "It's a pity you'll never get the chance to drown in your own gene pool." Ask your less genetically challenged friends what that means. |
